April 02, (THEWILL) – Leicester City Football Club has announced that manager Brendan Rodgers has left the club by mutual consent following their 4-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Rodgers’ departure comes with the club sitting 18th in the English Premier League table with just 10 games remaining in the 2022/2023 season. In a statement released on Sunday afternoon, the club acknowledged Rodgers’ contributions and successes during his tenure but expressed the need for action to protect their EPL status.
Leicester City Chairman, Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, stated: “The achievements of the team under Brendan’s management speak for themselves… However, performances and results during the current season have been below our shared expectations.”
Leicester City fans will now look ahead to the final 10 games of the season with a new manager at the helm, and the club’s board has urged for unity and fight in securing their position in the EPL.
