August 24, (THEWILL) –Â Leicester City goalkeeper, Daniel Iversen, made his debut for the Foxes by saving three penalties in a shootout victory over League Two team, Stockport, in the Carabao Cup competition.
James Maddison and Ayoze Perez missed for the Foxes in the frenetic shootout, which the team won 3-1, thanks to Iversen’s heroics. The goalkeeper also made a critical save to maintain the score at 0-0 during regular time.
It will not bring any respite for Leicester manager, Brendan Rodgers, because despite winning, Leicester has yet to prevail for a full 90 minutes this season. And, they could have been eliminated from the competition after facing a League Two team.
In the life after the former EPL-winning goalkeeper, Kasper Schmeichel, left the King Power Stadium, it was new keeper, Iversen’s reflexes that appear to have kept Rodgers’ job with the EPL side. However, he will need to get them firing and scoring goals quickly, if he intends to avoid being the first manager to be fired this season.
