April 20, (THEWILL) – Bayer Leverkusen extended their unbeaten run to 12 games across all competitions and booked their place in the UEFA Europa League semi-finals with a crushing 4-1 victory over hosts Union Saint-Gilloise of Belgium on Thursday.

Xabi Alonso’s team were extremely efficient, needing just 66 seconds for Moussa Diaby to open the scoring, before adding two more goals, from Mitchel Bakker and Jeremie Frimpong, to take a commanding lead.

Although the Belgians cut the deficit with a fine shot from Casper Terho in the 65th minute, they were unable to find another goal and bowed out of the competition. Leverkusen sealed the deal when Adam Hlozek pounced on a weak Anthony Moris save to make it 4-1 in the 79th minute.
