August 21, (THEWILL) –Â In the first 44 seconds of Barcelona’s 4-1 triumph over Real Sociedad, Robert Lewandowski scored his team’s first goal, his competitive debut for the club and the first of a brace he used to mark his birthday.
However, the hosts quickly equalised through Aleksander Isak after forcing Marc Andre Ter Stegen into several excellent saves. Sociedad even had a goal in the second half disallowed for offside as they kept the pressure tight on the visiting side from the Catalans.
Ansu Fati came on as a substitute and breathed fresh life into the Barca forward. He notched up two assists in six minutes, first to Ousmane Dembele and then, Robert Lewandowski, inspiring Barcelona to victory after their opening stalemate against Rayo Vallecano in matchday one.
Lewandowski returned Fati’s favour, supplying the assist as the Spaniard went on to score, calmly slotting the ball home to guarantee La Blaugrana would get all three points from the encounter.
Up next for Sociedad is a Saturday trip to Elche for matchday three while Camp Nou will welcome a familiar face in former manager Pep Guardiola when Manchester City play Barca in a friendly on Wednesday.
