April 06, (THEWILL) – Liverpool have been charged by the England Football Association (FA), after their players surrounded referee Simon Hooper, during Saturday’s 4-1 defeat at Manchester City.

The incident occurred in the 34th minute when City midfielder, Rodri, brought down Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo. Several Liverpool players crowded around Hooper, pleading for him to show Rodri a second yellow card.

The FA has, therefore, charged Liverpool with failing to control their players. The club have until April 12 to respond to the charge. If found guilty, Liverpool could face a fine or a points deduction.
