BEVERLY HILLS, October 27, (THEWILL) –Â Liverpool’s new man Portuguese left winger Diogo Jota scored the 10,000th goal in Liverpool’s history as they struggled to a 2-0 win over Danish club Midtjylland, maintaining their 100 per cent start in Champions League Group D.
The first half way nothing to write home about for Jurgen Klopp’s team. But 10 minutes into the second half, Jota finished off a superb team move as he struck home from close range.
The best chance for the Danes fell to Brazilian substitute Evander Ferreira. But the central defensive midfielder saw his shot on the turn flashed wide. Liverpool also saw an additional couple of misses, failing to increase their margin of victory.
However, a second eventually arrived for the hosts in added time. Mohamed Salah was fouled by Brazilian left back Paulinho in the box when he appeared to step on the Egyptian’s heel while marking him. Salah hammered it into the bottom right corner with the keeper going the other way.
Liverpool’s victory helped them move top of the table after Atalanta and Ajax played out an entertaining 2-2 draw.
The men from Anfield return to the English Premier League with a match at home against West Ham while the next feature for Midtjylland is a visit to Nordsjælland in the domestic Danish Super Ligaen.
