September 03, (THEWILL) – Mohamed Salah showed no signs of distraction amid transfer speculation by scoring in Liverpool’s comfortable 3-0 English Premier League win over Aston Villa on Sunday.
The Egyptian star netted the Reds’ third goal after earlier setting up their second, capping an impressive all-round display. He has been linked with a potential world record £150 million move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad after they reportedly had a bid rejected on Friday. But the 30-year-old remained fully focused on his club duties, helping Liverpool outclass Villa at Anfield.
The home side went ahead early on when Dominik Szoboszlai rifled in his first Liverpool goal directly from a Trent Alexander-Arnold corner. Salah then chased a brilliant pass from Alexander-Arnold, leading to Matty Cash turning the ball into his own net.
By the second half of proceedings, Liverpool were in complete control and Salah sealed the three points just before the hour mark. He hammered home at the back post after a flick-on from Darwin Nunez from Andy Robertson’s corner.
The win was Liverpool’s third in four EPL games and the Reds were without the suspended Virgil van Dijk. With the inspired Alexander-Arnold also going off injured late on, manager Jurgen Klopp will hope the knock is not serious.
