December 27, (THEWILL) – Liverpool maintained their position at the pinnacle of the English Premier League, extending their advantage to seven points, following a 3-1 victory over Leicester City at Anfield on Boxing Day.
The match commenced with an early surprise as Leicester, facing the threat of relegation, took the lead within six minutes.
Jordan Ayew capitalised on a cross from Stephy Mavididi, skillfully manoeuvring past Andrew Robertson to slot the ball past the goalkeeper.
This goal provided a much-needed boost for Leicester, who had earlier slipped into the relegation zone after Wolverhampton Wanderers defeated Manchester United.

Liverpool’s lead at the top of the table could potentially be reduced to six points when Arsenal host Ipswich Town on Friday.
Meanwhile, Leicester currently occupies 18th place in the league, one point behind Wolverhampton Wanderers.
