May 05, (THEWILL) – Liverpool are leading the race to sign Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder, Alexis Mac Allister, and have demonstrated a readiness to finalise a deal this month.
Mac Allister has been a standout performer in the English Premier League this season, scoring nine goals and helping push Brighton towards a top-six finish. The 24-year-old’s impressive form has attracted interest from several EPL clubs, and Liverpool is keen to secure his services ahead of their rivals.
Talks have already taken place between Liverpool and Mac Allister’s representatives, with the Reds eager to avoid competition from other clubs. However, Brighton is in no hurry to sell, as they are aware of interest from Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham, Chelsea, and Newcastle.
To their advantage, Mac Allister signed a new contract before the World Cup, putting Brighton in a strong negotiating position, and a deal may need to be worth as much as £70m to lure him away from the south coast. Still, Brighton is bracing themselves for a busy transfer window, with several players attracting interest from other clubs.
Apart from Mac Allister, Ecuadorian midfielder, Moises Caicedo, who was subject to bids from Chelsea and Arsenal in January, is expected to be on the radar of several clubs this summer. Brighton hopes that Mac Allister will be their only major departure, but they are prepared to do business on their terms.
