And if Jurgen Klopp and the Liverpool management are successful in luring Nunez, the rumoured sum of £85 million would be higher than the £75 million they paid Southampton for Virgil Van Dijk in 2018.
Julian Ward has met with Benfica officials in the hopes of sealing the signing, which would help to cover the void left by Sadio Mane’s likely exit, as well as that of Divock Origi, who has been linked with a move to AC Milan.
