September 27, (THEWILL) – AC Milan secured a 3-1 away victory against struggling Cagliari in Serie A on Wednesday night. Despite the hosts taking a shock lead through Zito Luvumbo, second-half goals from Noah Okafor, Fikayo Tomori and Ruben Loftus-Cheek helped the Rossoneri claim all three points.
The win, Milan’s second league victory in a row, keeps them temporarily top of the table with 15 points from 6 games. In contrast, Cagliari remain rooted to the bottom of Serie A with just 2 points so far.
After 29 minutes of the first half, Cagliari stunned Milan by taking the lead when Luvumbo smashed in from close range. However, the visitors soon rallied and equalised through Okafor 11 minutes later to cheers from the visiting fans. Shortly before the break, Milan edged ahead courtesy of a Tomori strike. The Englishman bundled the ball home after good work down the right from Christian Pulisic.
The points were sealed on the hour mark when Loftus-Cheek arced a superb 25-yard effort into the bottom corner. Milan then remained largely untroubled for the remainder of the game as they cruised to an important away win.
Cagliari’s next match is away at Fiorentina on Monday, while Milan host Lazio on Saturday.
