January 31, (THEWILL) – British athletics star, Mo Farah, has announced that this year’s London Marathon, set to take place on April 23, may be his final race.
Farah, who is best known for his long-distance success, has won Olympic gold in the 5,000 and 10,000 metres at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Games, as well as several world titles in both distances.
Despite not having reached the same heights in the marathon, Farah is eager to participate in the London race after missing last year’s event. “It’s been an amazing career and taking part in the London Marathon is a very big deal,” he stated. “I was gutted not to race last year and I just want to give it one more shot.”
Farah has confirmed that he won’t compete in the 2024 Olympics in Paris but has not ruled out the possibility of competing in this year’s World Championships in Budapest. He emphasised that his participation will depend on his physical condition.
“It depends on my body. I just want to get to the start line and see what I can manage.”
