June 01, (THEWILL) – Olympique de Marseille’s manager, Igor Tudor, will step down from his position at the conclusion of the season, as revealed by the club’s president, Pablo Longoria, on Thursday.
Tudor, a former Croatia international, had joined Marseille in July 2022, taking over from Jorge Sampaoli. Having previously managed clubs such as Hajduk Split, PAOK, Galatasaray, Udinese, and Hellas Verona, the 45-year-old signed a two-year contract with the Ligue 1 side. Under Tudor’s guidance, Marseille secured a commendable third place in Ligue 1, trailing behind champions Paris St Germain and RC Lens. Their final league fixture of the season will be against Ajaccio this Saturday.
Longoria expressed his appreciation for Tudor’s efforts. He said: “We have respected Igor Tudor’s desire to part ways with the club. It is now his responsibility to communicate his intentions. I would like to extend my gratitude, both personally and on behalf of the club, for the remarkable work he has done with utmost respect.”
Regarding his departure, Tudor confirmed that he has not yet committed to another club. He expressed personal growth during his tenure and stated that he was leaving due to private and professional reasons.
