November 03, (THEWILL) – Atalanta BC strengthened their Serie A title challenge with a commanding 3-0 victory at SSC Napoli’s Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, marking their fifth consecutive league win.

Ademola Lookman led the charge, opening the scoring with a close-range volley after Charles De Ketelaere’s assist. The Nigerian international doubled Atalanta’s lead before halftime when his curling shot found its way past Alex Meret, though the Napoli goalkeeper should have done better.

Napoli, who entered the match with Serie A’s best defensive record of just five goals conceded in 10 matches, struggled to respond. Scott McTominay’s long-range effort struck the woodwork in their closest attempt, but Antonio Conte’s side failed to mount any significant pressure throughout the match.

The home team’s performance deteriorated further after the break, with Atalanta maintaining control. Mateo Retegui, coming off the bench, added a third goal in injury time with a well-struck volley, taking his tally to 11 league goals this season.

The result puts Atalanta within three points of league leaders Napoli, who face a challenging trip to champions Inter Milan next week before the international break. This defeat ends Napoli’s nine-match unbeaten run in Serie A.
