April 23, (THEWILL) – Inter Milan put an end to their five-game winless run in Serie A, with a commanding 3-0 victory against Empoli at the Stadio Carlo Castellani on Sunday.

The win saw them temporarily climb up to fifth place in the league, just two points behind Roma, who have a match in hand. The struggling Empoli side, with just one win in their last 12 league games, were unable to mount any sort of response against Inter Milan.

After securing a spot in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals in midweek, Inter’s poor domestic form had seen them drop to sixth, but a brace from Romelu Lukaku and an assist from the Belgian striker for Lautaro Martinez’s goal sealed the win for Simone Inzaghi’s heavily rotated side.
