September 30, (THEWILL) – Luton Town made history on Saturday, by securing their first ever English Premier League victory with a 2-1 win against Everton, at Goodison Park. Despite Everton starting the match brightly after two consecutive victories, Luton took control through set-piece goals from captain, Tom Lockyer and striker, Carlton Morris.
Lockyer opened the scoring in the 24th minute, pouncing on the rebound after Morris’ powerful header hit the bar. Morris then doubled Luton’s advantage with a crisp volley at the back post from Alfie Doughty’s free kick. Although Dominic Calvert-Lewin pulled one back for Everton before halftime, Luton held firm to protect their lead.
Everton were left ruing missed chances, with James Garner hitting the post and bar. Their optimism after recent victories quickly faded amid Luton’s resolute defending and inability to convert opportunities into goals.
