June 12, (THEWILL) – Manchester City’s triumphant open-top bus parade in celebration of their remarkable treble triumph remained unaffected by the inclement weather conditions and the looming threat of lightning storms.
The challenging circumstances nonetheless, a multitude of devoted fans flocked to the streets, exuberantly cheering on Pep Guardiola’s squad. The team’s recent conquests include clinching the UEFA Champions League trophy after a resounding victory against Inter Milan in Istanbul on Saturday night, in addition to their English Premier League title and FA Cup triumph.
Initially, access to the stage show venue at St Peter’s Square experienced a delay due to adverse weather reports and the presence of lightning storms in the vicinity. Consequently, the club announced a revised commencement time of the trophy parade from Beetham Tower on Deansgate, rescheduled for 7pm.
The team opted for the tram as their mode of transportation, embarking from St Peter’s Square aboard four buses that embarked on a vibrant procession down Deansgate, traversing Cross Street, King Street, Brown Street, and ultimately Booth Street, with the parade culminating at Nicholas Street.
To the sheer delight of the City faithful, defender Nathan Ake proudly displayed the EPL trophy aloft, while the exuberant crowd braved the rain, with many eagerly following the procession on foot toward the stage festivities once the path was clear. Midfielder Phil Foden jubilantly brandished the illustrious UCL trophy, while Guardiola savoured the moment, leisurely puffing on a cigar amidst the captivating scenes.
