March 22, (THEWILL) – Manchester City are reportedly renewing their interest in the highly-rated Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.
Wirtz is considered one of the most talented young prospects in European football, and he has recently recovered from a serious knee ligament injury that kept him out of the game for nine months and prevented him from participating in the 2022 World Cup.
City have been monitoring the 19-year-old midfielder for some time, and the club is now reportedly showing a renewed interest in his progress. However, the English champions face stiff competition for his signature, with several other clubs, including Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal, Tottenham, and Newcastle, also said to be monitoring the player’s development.
Despite the rumours, Leverkusen have no plans to let Wirtz go this summer, and the player himself seems to be focused on helping his current team climb up the Bundesliga table. Additionally, the German national team is planning to include him in the squad for next summer’s Euro 2024 tournament, which will be hosted in Germany.
