March 11, (THEWILL) – Manchester City have agreed to sign Atletico Mineiro 17-year-old winger, Savinho, by the end of the season.
City began talks with the Brazilian club earlier this year about a double deal for Savinho and Yan Phillipe, who is also 17, with the former making good early development.
City and Atletico Mineiro, have formally settled on an agreement in which City will pay an initial £5 million, with a further £5 million to be paid in add-ons. Atletico Mineiro will also receive a 10% commission on any future sale involving the player.
Personal terms have not yet been confirmed, but sources close to the situation believe it is just a matter of time, with the focus now on which side Savinho will join on loan until his move is completed in the summer.
PSV Eindhoven is a possible destination, but City is also considering moving Savinho to Troyes, a Ligue 1 team that is part of the City Football Group.
Savinho will sign his contract after he reaches the age of 18 on April 10th.
Recently, City has been quite active in the South American market. Kayky, Yan Couto, and Diego Rosa are all Brazilians, who have moved to the Etihad in recent years, while City have also signed young Argentina striker Julian Alvarez from River Plate, who Pep Guardiola wants in his senior team next year.
