June 01, (THEWILL) – Manchester United are reportedly closing in on a deal for Chelsea midfielder, Mason Mount, having reached an agreement on personal terms.
24-year-old Mount, who has attracted interest from other English Premier League clubs including Liverpool and Arsenal, is seen as a key target for United Manager, Erik ten Hag, as he looks to strengthen his squad for the upcoming season. While the transfer fee has yet to be finalised, ten Hag is confident in his ability to convince Mount to join and is urging the club’s hierarchy to complete the signing.
Additionally, ten Hag is also keen on acquiring a top-quality striker, with Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane being his preferred choice. If Mount’s deal goes through, it would be a significant blow for Liverpool, especially as their Manager, Jurgen Klopp, has targeted Mount as part of his midfield rebuild. Arsenal, too, is pushing for Mount’s best friend, West Ham United captain, Declan Rice, who is also on the radar of Bayern Munich coach Tuchel.
Mount is highly regarded by ten Hag and is expected to play a pivotal role as a number eight in the team’s setup. The completion of Mount’s deal would represent a major coup for Manchester United as they aim to bolster their midfield options ahead of the new season. The pursuit of additional reinforcements, particularly a top-class striker like Harry Kane, demonstrates the club’s ambition to compete at the highest level.
Fans and rivals alike will be closely watching the developments in the coming weeks, as the transfer window begins to properly heat up.
