October 04, (THEWILL) — Manchester United eased the mounting pressure on manager Ruben Amorim with a convincing 2–0 victory over Sunderland at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Mason Mount opened the scoring with an excellent touch and finish just inside the penalty area after coming into the starting XI in place of Matheus Cunha.
The early goal settled nerves for the hosts, who had arrived at the fixture amid a deepening crisis.

United maintained control after the break, restricting Sunderland’s attacking threat whilst creating opportunities at the opposite end.
Mbeumo squandered the clearest chance of the second half, firing over the bar after carving out space inside the penalty area.
The visitors offered little in response, unable to mount any sustained pressure on the hosts’ defence.
The Red Devils held firm to record their first clean sheet of the campaign, completing a routine victory that gave them a third straight home win.
The result provided Amorim with temporary relief ahead of the international break, offering the manager valuable breathing space during a difficult period.
