April 26, (THEWILL) – Dominik Livakovic, the goalkeeper for Dinamo Zagreb, is being considered by Manchester United as a potential replacement for David de Gea.
The future of Erik ten Hag’s first team goalkeeper with the club has been put into doubt, following his recent subpar performance. The Red Devils are, therefore, willing to pay Livakovic’s £8.9m release clause, in order to secure his services.
De Gea’s performance in the Europa League was scrutinised heavily after he was held responsible for all three of the goals scored against United. However, the goalkeeper did manage to redeem himself in the FA Cup semi-final win over Brighton, keeping a clean sheet before his team triumphed in a penalty shootout.
Livakovic has been the first-choice goalkeeper for Dinamo for the past seven seasons and was an instrumental player for Croatia during their run to the semi-finals of the World Cup in 2018. If United decides to sign him, Livakovic will become a much-needed replacement for De Gea, who has been with the club for nearly a decade.
