April 06, (THEWILL) – Erik ten Hag is reportedly pushing for Manchester United to make Marcel Sabitzer’s move from Bayern Munich permanent in the summer transfer window.
Sabitzer, an Austrian international, joined United on loan from Bayern in January and has made 11 appearances so far, including an assist in the recent 1-0 win against Brentford.
Ten Hag is reportedly looking to strengthen United’s midfield for next season, and sees Sabitzer as a potential bargain to do so on a permanent deal. Bayern Munich are open to selling Sabitzer for a fee similar to what they paid RB Leipzig in August 2021, around €16m (£13.7m).
Although several other European clubs are interested in Sabitzer, he is said to be happy at United and would prefer to stay. United are also targeting a new striker as their top priority, but are also looking for an additional starting midfielder, with Sabitzer as a potential option.
The club is planning to raise funds through the sales of squad players like Scott McTominay and Fred, who are not in the club’s longer-term plans.
