January 05, (THEWILL) — Manchester United have dismissed manager Ruben Amorim after 14 months in charge, with Darren Fletcher set to take over on an interim basis.
The decision follows mounting tensions between the Portuguese coach and the club’s board, particularly with director of football Jason Wilcox.
United currently sit sixth in the English Premier League table at the halfway stage of the season, with recent draws against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leeds United contributing to dissatisfaction with results.
Amorim joined Man Utd in November 2024, replacing Erik ten Hag after the Dutchman’s two-and-a-half-year tenure at Old Trafford.
