April 06, (THEWILL) – Manchester United’s search for a new manager appears to be over, with Erik Ten Hag set to be appointed, as all indications from Manchester point to.
As THEWILL reported, the Ajax manager was interviewed by United last month and is the favourite candidate to replace interim manager Ralf Rangnick in the summer.
Ten Hag was chosen from a four-man shortlist that included Mauricio Pochettino of PSG, Luis Enrique of Spain, and Julen Lopetegui of Sevilla. The 52-year-old has been at Ajax since 2017, and has led them to Eredivisie titles in 2019 and 2021, as well as a run to the Champions League semi-finals the same year.
With six games remaining in the current season, the Amsterdam-based club is four points clear at the top of the Dutch top flight.
United have been looking for a long-term replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since he was fired in November. Rangnick was brought in on a temporary basis with the intention of transiting into a consulting position when a new manager is hired at the end of the season.
