June 04, (THEWILL) –Â Senegal striker, Sadio Mane, scored a hattrick in their 3-1 win against Benin in the TotalEnergies 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Saturday, becoming his country’s all-time leading scorer.
The Liverpool striker opened the scoring with a penalty kick in the 12th minute, increased the advantage 10 minutes later, and then smashed the record with another penalty kick in the 60th minute. In the 88th minute, Junior Olaitan scored a late consolation goal for the visitors.
Mane therefore increased his goal tally with the Teranga Lions to 32, breaking Henri Camara’s previous mark of 31 goals to become the record-setting goal-scorer for Senegal.
Last week, the 30-year-old celebrated his 10-year international career, having made his debut against Morocco on May 25, 2012, and has since played 87 games for Senegal.
