Mane

July 21, (THEWILL) – In their first game for their new club, debutants Sadio Mane and Matthijs de Ligt, both scored as Bayern Munich trounced DC United 6-2 in another pre-season match.

Mane did not have to wait long to find his debut goal, going up to the spot after Lucas Copado was fouled, less than five minutes into the game. He converted his penalty kick flawlessly, smashing it into the left corner of the net to give Bayern a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute.

The DC goalkeeper was caught off guard by Marcel Sabitzer’s shot from the top of the box in the 12th minute, and Serge Gnabry scored from Mane’s assist in the 44th minute to make it 3-0 at the break. Bayern substituted in a completely different starting lineup for the second half, and De Ligt, in his first game after signing from Juventus, made an impressive introduction by scoring 90 seconds later with a left-foot volley from a corner.
