February 14, (THEWILL) – American manager, Jesse Marsch, is set to take charge as the new manager of Southampton replacing Nathan Jones.
The 49-year-old American had an initial round of talks with the club on Monday, where they discussed the length of his potential contract. Southampton’s hierarchy were also considering other high-profile names including Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard, but it appears that Marsch is now the front runner for the job.
Southampton’s decision to appoint Marsch comes as no surprise to some, as the club has been tracking him since his time at New York Red Bulls.
