December 19, (THEWILL) – Marseille Football Club’s president Pablo Longoria remains open to bringing former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba to the French side when his doping suspension concludes in 2025.
The French international, who won the World Cup in 2018, received an 18-month suspension following a doping violation during his time at Juventus.
The ban, initially set at four years, underwent a reduction, permitting Pogba to resume training activities in January 2025 and return to competitive football two months later.
Following a mutual agreement between Pogba and Juventus in November 2023, both parties terminated their professional relationship.
The midfielder’s final appearance came against Empoli in September 2023, marking his last Serie A match before the suspension took effect.
Despite never having competed in France’s top division, Pogba might find an opportunity with Marseille.
“I am not closing the door because he is a world-class player,” Longoria stated.
He added, “We have to analyse since he is on the market, and it is always good to take advantage of these opportunities and have great players in your team.”
The Marseille president maintained a measured approach regarding potential negotiations, explaining, “There are no advanced discussions with him. We will have an internal meeting to set all the transfer window objectives.”
Longoria further emphasised his deep respect for the player.
