October 16, (THEWILL) – Inter easily defeated Salernitana 2-0 at the San Siro on Sunday to earn their third victory in as many games.
The former Serie A champions had lost five of their first ten games this season, a poor run that put Simone Inzaghi under pressure. However, they are now unbeaten in four games and have built on Wednesday’s encouraging 3-3 draw away to Barcelona with three points in Serie A.
Despite the hosts’ initial struggles to build on Lautaro Martinez’s long-range goal for Inter in the first half on Sunday, Salernitana rarely appeared to pose any serious threat that could have made Inter worried about a leveller.
Just before the hour, Inter doubled their advantage thanks to a fantastic goal from Nicolo Barella, which allowed the Nerazzurri to get within two points of the top four for at least until the other weekend games are completed.
In their next matches, Salernitana play host to Spezia on Saturday as Inter travel to Fiorentina.
