A Harlem, New York brownstone single family home owned by the deceased famous American poet, social critic and civil rights advocate, Maya Angelou has sold for a record $4,075,000 @ $1,138.58 per square foot. Real estate agents say it’s the most expensive sale per square footage for a single family home in Harlem. The home was listed in January for $5.1m.
The residence was Angelou’s New York home for almost a decade, though her main residence was in Winston-Salem, NC. It is located on the West 120th Street. It’s a five five-bedroom, five-bathroom stunner with an 800-square-foot kitchen. She hosted friends like Oprah Winfrey and Cicely Tyson as well as other powerful personalities at the residence.
She died in May 2014 at age 86.
