June 12, (THEWILL) – A thrilling exhibition fight between boxing legend, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and John Gotti III, ended in a wild brawl at FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Florida.
Mayweather had been comfortably dominating the match for five rounds, barely breaking a sweat as he traded verbal jabs with Gotti while landing powerful punches. However, tensions escalated, and the situation quickly spiralled out of control.
Referee Kenny Bayless struggled to separate the two fighters during their clinches and put an end to their heated exchange of words. Then, in the early stages of the sixth round, Bayless stepped in to stop the fight as the trash-talking continued. But the chaos was far from over. Gotti, fueled by frustration, unleashed a flurry of wild haymakers at Mayweather after the bell rang.
The pandemonium intensified as both entourages stormed into the ring, creating a scene of absolute bedlam. Before the unexpected turn of events, Mayweather had enjoyed a relatively easy night in the ring. While the exhibition fight was not officially scored, MMA Fighting had awarded all five rounds to the 46-year-old boxing legend.
Mayweather, known for his undefeated record of 50-0 before retiring from professional boxing, had been participating in his seventh exhibition fight. Gotti, on the other hand, entered the bout with a 2-0 professional boxing record and a 5-1 professional MMA record.
