Madrid opened the scoring in the 33rd minute when Arda Guler curled a stunning effort into the top-left corner following a short corner routine. Kylian Mbappé doubled the advantage six minutes later, collecting a pass from Jude Bellingham before driving forward and finishing past Vicente Guaita.
