October 1, (THEWILL) –In Saturday’s Ligue 1 match between Paris Saint-Germain and Nice, Kylian Mbappe was summoned off the bench to help his team to a 2-1.
Mbappe was not given the start by former Nice coach Christophe Galtier, but it did not seem to matter when Lionel Messi scored the game’s first goal from a free kick he had won himself.
Messi scored from a straight free-kick for PSG, the 60th free-kick goal of his professional career, but Nice tied the score two minutes into the second half through Gaetan Laborde after a Youcef Atal cross skipped past Mordi Lukiele and Sergio Ramos.
Mbappe entered the game at the hour mark, and even though his quality did not immediately show, the French striker found the winning goal at the Parc des Princes in the 83rd minute.
Prior to playing Reims in Ligue 1 next weekend, PSG will be on the road to play Benfica in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday. The next game for Nice will be a Europa away tie against Slovaco on Thursday.
