August 13, (THEWILL) – Paris Saint-Germain striker, Kylian Mbappe, has returned to first-team training, the club announced Sunday, following “very constructive and positive discussions” between the French champions and their star player.
The training ground reintegration comes after Mbappe was left out of PSG’s opening Ligue 1 match against Lorient on Saturday, fuelling speculation about the World Cup winner’s future. Mbappe has just one year remaining on his PSG contract and has so far refused offers to extend his current deal.
PSG said in a statement that Mbappe took part in Sunday’s training session after the “very positive” recent talks with club officials. While Mbappe has expressed a preference to join Real Madrid, it has been reported he could now sign an extension with PSG until 2025 before securing a move to the Spanish club next summer.
Mbappe’s absence contributed to a disappointing goalless draw for PSG against Lorient, with Neymar also left out of the matchday squad. The 24-year-old Mbappe is PSG’s all-time leading scorer with 212 goals in just 260 appearances since joining from Monaco in 2017. His return to training means he could feature next weekend when PSG travel to Toulouse.
