April 22, (THEWILL) – As the current 2021/2022 football season draws to a close, clubs across Europe are making moves to fortify their teams and lighten their pay bills as they clear some fringe players no longer making the impact required of them.

Keeping tabs on all the stories making the rounds, 90min have identified Real Madrid as being most optimistic of completing a deal for Paris Saint-Germain star, Kylian Mbappe, even after the antics of Les Parisiens, while Erling Haaland is expected to join Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Gabriel Jesus’ time at the Etihad could be up with Haaland’s arrival, with City willing to let him go for the appropriate price.

THEWILL previously reported that Manchester United’s interim manager Ralf Rangnick admitted that a clear out was expected at Old Trafford. With about 12 players due to leave, incoming manager Erik Ten Hag might have a £200 million war-chest to spend on new arrivals.

Nemanja Matic has confirmed that he is one of those players. THEWILL recalls that he confirmed his exit this month and is widely expected to reunite with Jose Mourinho at Roma in Serie A.

At Barcelona, Xavi Hernandez intends to make a summer offer for Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez as they look for long-term successors for Gerard Pique, who is now injured.

Arsenal have been desirous of bringing in Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz, despite competing interests from new moneybags Newcastle and La Liga defending champions Atletico Madrid.

Elsewhere, representatives for Paul Pogba are in talks with Juventus and Real Madrid about a summer transfer, while Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is being considered as a possible successor for the Frenchman at Old Trafford.

In order to stave off attention from Liverpool and Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund intends to make Jude Bellingham feel more valued and wanted at the club. Losing him the way they lost Jadon Sancho to United is not an attractive prospect for them.

Atletico Madrid is interested in signing William Saliba, who has impressed on loan at Marseille this season. Whether the Gunners will sign off on the move, since the defensive frailties are not as evident with the current setup, remains uncertain.

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Nottingham Forest’s Djed Spence, with Antonio Conte aiming for a big summer in terms of new recruits.
