August 03, (THEWILL) – The remake version of the 1980s classic “Road House” starring Patrick Swayze on Amazon Prime Video, will feature UFC superstar, Conor McGregor, making his acting debut.
McGregor will join a cast that includes Jake Gyllenhaal, who will portray a former UFC fighter that is now a bouncer. The 34-year-old Irishman will not play himself in the movie; instead, he will play a unique character.
His representative released the following statement: “Conor McGregor is very excited to expand his storied career to Hollywood and join with Jake Gyllenhaal in this reimagining of ‘Road House’, a beloved classic. While fighting remains his top focus, this is the beginning of another successful venture in the McGregor empire. He is eager to get started filming.”
McGregor previously declined invitations from Hollywood to appear in films, but after seeing the first film, he expressed interest in the “Road House” project. This month, filming will start in the Dominican Republic but no anticipated release date has been determined.
Billy Magnussen, Daniela Melchior, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Lukas Gage, Hannah Love Lanier, Travis Van Winkle, B.K. Cannon, Arturo Castro, Dominique Columbus, Beau Knapp, and Bob Menery are other actors included in the cast.
