Ja Morant

May 14, (THEWILL) – Memphis Grizzlies’ standout player, Ja Morant, has been suspended from all team activities pending a league review, as announced by the team on Sunday.

The suspension comes after Morant was captured on an Instagram Live clip widely circulated on Twitter, appearing to flash what seemed to be a gun. This incident follows a previous suspension two months ago, when Morant faced disciplinary action from the league for displaying a gun in an Instagram video taken at a nightclub in the Denver area.

The Grizzlies acknowledged the social media video involving Morant and stated that they will not provide further comments at this time. NBA Spokesperson, Mike Bass, released a statement, stating that the league was aware of the video and is in the process of gathering more information. So far, Morant’s representatives have not commented publicly on the issue.

The latest video depicts Morant in the passenger’s seat of a car, driven by another individual. As the camera focuses on him, Morant briefly holds up an object resembling a firearm. The location where the video was recorded remains unclear, and the clip was no longer accessible on the Instagram feed of the person who posted it.

In the previous case, the NBA determined that Morant did not possess the gun while with the Grizzlies or in any NBA facilities. Furthermore, Colorado authorities found no grounds to charge Morant with a crime. The league issued an eight-game suspension, citing Morant’s conduct detrimental to the league, which resulted in the player missing two games immediately following the March incident.
