October 31, (THEWILL) – Stefano Pioli has extended his managerial contract with AC Milan for an additional two years, the club has officially confirmed.
With his initial agreement scheduled to expire in June 2023, the Rossoneri announced that Pioli has signed a contract that will keep him with the team through June 30, 2025, in a statement on the club’s official website.
His predecessor, Marco Giampaolo, was fired midway through the 2019/2020 season and Pioli took his place in the Milan dugout. Since then, he has embarked on a very successful process of rebuilding, which culminated in the 2021/2022 Scudetto title.
In the statement announcing the contract extension, the club said it was effected to “continue working on this ambitious project” that “reflects the club’s history and values.”
A win or a draw against Red Bull Salzburg on Wednesday, at a sold-out San Siro, will be enough to advance to the UEFA Champions League knockout stages, which would be another significant step in the positive cycle Pioli has started.
