April 30, (THEWILL) – Football super-agent, Mino Raiola, dies at the age of 54. On Saturday, his family issued a statement on social media announcing his death.
The statement read: “In infinite sorrow, we share the passing of the most caring and amazing football agent that ever was.
“Mino fought until the end with the same strength he put on negotiation tables to defend our players. As usual, Mino made us proud and never realised it.
“Mino touched so many lives through his work and wrote a new chapter in the history of modern football. His presence will forever be missed. Mino’s mission of making football a better place for players will continue with the same passion.”
Raiola was checked in Italy in January after rumours said he was brought to the hospital for surgery. According to news sources, he was in intensive care owing to a lung condition, but his spokeswoman played down the severity of the visit, saying:
“Mino Raiola is undergoing the usual medical examinations that require anaesthesia. Everything was planned and there were no emergency surgeries.”
Raiola has built a reputation for securing lucrative contracts for his clients and was currently involved in negotiating Haaland’s probable summer departure from Borussia Dortmund.
Along with Haaland, Pogba, and Ibrahimovic, Raiola was involved in the transfers of Matthijs de Ligt to Juventus in 2019 and Gianluigi Donnarumma from AC Milan to PSG last summer, as well as Italian forward Mario Balotelli.
