March 12, (THEWILL) – The Association of Orphanages and Home Operators in Nigeria, has stated that the money donated to talented singer, David Adedeji Adeleke, also known as Davido, was not embezzled.

Dr Gabriel Oyediji, the national president of the association, revealed in a press conference that the money was disbursed as it ought to.

“Ten percent of the money went to associations that are not orphanages, but are involved in social care. Davido also said he added organisations that do not deal with children, but are doing good work. The money was shared by the panel he created for the distribution.”

“The money was distributed to individual homes. It was not sent to the association. I guess they did the sharing according to the number of children in each home, looking at an average of N25,000 per orphan.

Some homes got up to N1 million, some got as little as N25,000, while some did not get anything.”

He praised Davido for his kind gesture, he said “Davido is a legend. He did something very unusual, outstanding and shocking. He is not the richest person in the country, but I believe God directed him to do what he did. What he did is a seed and he can never be poor. As he has sown the seed of love, the God of the orphans will continue to bless him.”

“We have an appreciation plaque for Davido and we are looking for ways to present it to him for touching lives”, he said.

Recall that friends and fans of the singer donated the sum of N200 million to him last year, he added N50 million to it and donated the money to some orphanages. He also gave an update on how the money was disbursed. However, some naysayers still criticised his actions, saying he didn’t disburse the money as stated.
