June 15, (THEWILL) – In August, Jose Mourinho’s Roma team will meet Barcelona in the Joan Gamper Trophy at Camp Nou as Mourinho returns to Spain in a competitive tie.
The Gamper is Barcelona’s season opener, with the Blaugrana facing Juventus in last year’s edition, which was the first to feature both men’s and women’s teams. This time, Roma will be the opponents for this year’s edition, which will be held on August 6.
After winning the Europa League with Roma, Mourinho will return to the Camp Nou, where he was Louis van Gaal’s assistant for three seasons until 2000. However, he went on to coach arch-rivals Real Madrid, earning the Portuguese coach immense hate among Blaugrana supporters.
