In an interview with Zeze Millz, he also spoke about how he started music as a studio errand boy. He revealed that as a studio rat, he was spending more time in the studio, which was affecting his academic performance.

He added that after some time, the industry leaders realised he could write, and that was how he became a songwriter for artistes.

He further added that he eventually informed his father that he wanted to drop out of school in his final year and relocate to Lagos, where he eventually got signed to YBNL Nation.

According to him, it was surprising, but his father did not object, rather he made him sign an undertaking to always obey him, and if he does not succeed in his music career after two years, he would do whatever is asked of him.

However, Fireboy took up the challenge, he believed in his talent which eventually paid off nicely as he has grown to become a global music superstar.
