N5m Fine: Court Strikes Out Suit Against Minister, NBC

SAN FRANCISCO, November 27, (THEWILL) – The Federal High Court, Abuja has struck out the case filed by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) against Minister of Information and Culture and the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).

The Court in its judgement said SERAP has no locus standi to institute the suit on a case “it is not a part of.”

The court also described the case as a mere academic exercise.

SERAP had approached the court to stop the N5m fine imposed on Arise TV, AIT and Channels television for infractions during the #EndSARS protest.
