Napoli

March 07, (THEWILL) — Napoli claimed a hard-earned 2-1 Serie A win over Torino at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, with Brazilian winger, Alisson Santos, and Eljif Elmas, on target to lift the hosts to third in the table, one point adrift of second-placed Milan.

Santos gave Napoli the lead in just the seventh minute, cutting in from the left flank and rolling a low, precise effort into the near corner to give his side an early foothold.

Nikola Vlasic twice tested goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic in response, while Rasmus Hojlund wasted a fine opening for Napoli, heading wide from Matteo Politano’s inviting delivery across the box.

Both Santos and Hojlund were denied by Alberto Paleari early in the second period before the home side found a second. Leonardo Spinazzola crossed from the left, Politano cushioned it down and Elmas drove the ball home to double Napoli’s advantage.

Cesare Casadei nodded in from Tyler Adams’ knockdown to set up an anxious finale, but Torino could not find a leveller and Napoli held on for all three points.
