December 22, (THEWILL) — David Neres scored twice to guide Napoli to a 2-0 triumph over Bologna in the Supercoppa Italiana final at Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh. Antonio Conte’s side claimed the opening silverware of the 2025/2026 Italian season through the Brazilian winger’s clinical finishing in each half.
Napoli controlled the early exchanges, with Eljif Elmas striking the side-netting before Scott McTominay forced Bologna goalkeeper Federico Ravaglia into a save from a narrow angle. Neres broke the deadlock in the 39th minute, cutting inside from the right flank and curling a superb 25-yard effort into the top corner to reward the reigning Scudetto holders’ attacking dominance.

That miss proved costly when Neres capitalised on a risky pass from Ravaglia to Jhon Lucumi, lifting the ball delicately over the stranded keeper to double Napoli’s advantage in the 57th minute.
Matteo Politano squandered a golden chance to extend the lead further, shooting wide from inside the six-yard box late in the contest. The two-goal cushion proved sufficient for the Partenopei, who controlled proceedings to seal a comfortable victory.
Conte’s men now return to domestic duties with silverware already in hand, whilst Bologna must regroup following their defeat in the Saudi Arabian capital. Neres’ match-winning display underlined Napoli’s credentials at the start of the new campaign.
