February 08, (THEWILL) – Manchester United’s hopes of securing the services of sensational Nigerian forward, Victor Osimhen, have been dealt a major blow after Napoli President, Aurelio de Laurentiis, ruled out the possibility of selling the prolific forward.
The Red Devils have reportedly been preparing a mega-money bid for the 24-year-old, but de Laurentiis wants to continue building for the future as Napoli close in on the Serie A title.
In a recent interview, de Laurentiis stated that Osimhen is not for sale, saying: “I can tell you that Osimhen is not for sale. Our players are in demand but I don’t have to sell anyone. We don’t have any debts.”
With Osimhen’s current contract set to run until 2025, Napoli holds all the cards in any potential transfer negotiations. The striker has been in excellent form for Napoli this season, topping the goalscoring charts in Italy with 16 goals in 17 outings.
Chelsea are also said to be tracking the striker, but it seems highly likely that Osimhen will remain at Napoli where he is enjoying the best football of his career. Speaking in December, Osimhen expressed his desire to win silverware with Napoli and made it clear that he finds it hard to imagine leaving the club.
