February 18, (THEWILL) – Wilfred Ndidi, midfielder for the Super Eagles, has responded to speculations connecting him to a £50 million (NGN28.3 billion) transfer from Leicester City to Aston Villa.
Villa manager Steven Gerrard is eyeing a summer transfer for Ndidi as a replacement for Bissouma. However, it may be difficult after Ndidi stated that he is not considering leaving Leicester because he enjoys his time there.
Ndidi joined the Foxes in January 2017 and has since established himself as one of the top defensive midfielders in the Premier League and throughout the world.
The 25-year-contributions old’s have been crucial to Leicester’s recent success, despite their dismal start to the season.
Ndidi’s performances have piqued the interest of prominent European teams, with Villa the latest to be linked with a move for the Nigerian.
However, speaking before of Leicester’s 4-1 Europa League triumph against Randers, the ex-Genk man confesses that he does not see himself leaving the King Power Stadium at the moment for a variety of reasons.
“At the moment, I am enjoying myself in Leicester,” Ndidi said. “My family is here. My business degree was on hold because, at the time, it was during lockdown, and then my daughter (was born). But I’m looking forward to it maybe next year.”
Ndidi’s current Leicester deal extends through 2024 with the Nigerian ready to commit to the Foxes for the foreseeable future.
