August 08, (THEWILL) – Newcastle United have successfully finalised the signing of young right-back, Tino Livramento, from Southampton.

The club completed the transfer for an estimated fee of £35 million, with an additional £5 million in potential add-ons. A significant proportion of the transfer amount, approximately 40%, will be directed to Chelsea, Livramento’s former club, as part of a sell-on clause stemming from his move to St Mary’s Stadium in 2021. The 20-year-old signed a five-year contract with the club, becoming the fourth notable signing of the summer, joining fellow newcomers Sandro Tonali, Harvey Barnes, and Yankuba Minteh.

Livramento’s anticipation for his new chapter with Newcastle United is palpable. Speaking with club media, he conveyed his eagerness to play in front of the spirited and vocal fanbase. The talented player was notably present during the team’s recent friendlies but admitted to being excited to experience the electric atmosphere of EPL and potentially UCL matches.

Livramento also spoke positively about the team’s style of play, which he found appealing and suited to his skills, looking forward to learning from experienced full-back, Kieran Trippier, and aiming to refine his craft under Trippier’s mentorship.

Manager Eddie Howe warmly welcomed Livramento, hailing his talent and potential, his attributes and determination that align seamlessly with the team’s growth trajectory. Livramento’s arrival adds depth and competition to the right-back position for Newcastle United, where he will compete for playing time with the seasoned 32-year-old Trippier.

However, Livramento’s versatility extends beyond his defensive duties, as he is also comfortable contributing further up the field. The signing underscores the club’s commitment to nurturing young talent and building a dynamic squad poised for continued success.
