August 25, (THEWILL) – AC Milan suffered a 2-1 defeat against Parma in Serie A on Saturday, continuing their disappointing start under new manager Paulo Fonseca. The match took place at Stadio Ennio Tardini, where newly-promoted Parma outperformed expectations.
Parma took an early lead through Dennis Man’s close-range finish. Christian Pulisic equalised for Milan in the 66th minute, but Matteo Cancellieri scored the winning goal for Parma 13 minutes before full-time.
The 22-year-old winger, on loan from Lazio, met Pontus Almqvist’s low cross to net his first goal for the club. Milan have now collected only one point from their opening two league matches under Portuguese coach Fonseca.
Despite improved performance in the second half, including Tijjani Reijnders hitting the crossbar, Milan could not overcome Parma’s determined defence and swift counter-attacks.
